Qualifying Event for the World Rogaining Championships

            3 rd Bulletin

Event center  Camping “Sveikuli” near Tukums; N 56 59.661  E 023 08.196; www.sveikuli.lv The event center is in the race area. Hash house is in the event centre.

Competition area     Tukums and Tukums surroundings, which include Seme and Brizule parishes, partly Smarde parish, part of the Ķemeri national park. Approximate area- 160 sq. Km. Prohibited areas will be described in future bulletins.

Format24-hour,6-hour, 3-hour rogaines. The distance must be completed by foot.

LRC – time limit 24 h – two to three people per team.

6/3 h time limit 6h or 3h – two to five people per team.

6h rogain – in according to the rules of the IRF and LOF except as otherwise provided by this bulletin.

limit for Tauta class (T3) is three hours- without competition element. 

During the distance planning, it is not allowed to use any devices (computers, software etc.), which are intended for distance optimising, control point transfering from paper map to electronic device or any kind of other actions, that can affect the result.

During the race it is not allowed for participants to use GPS watches, mobile phones, step counters or other devices which may help to orientate oneself in the area, set the distance or in any other way may affect the result. A mobile phone can be used only in the case of an emergency to help another team. It will be allowed to take devices along in the distance, but only in an non-transparent packing given by the organizers. If the above mentioned devices are being used for the needs of the team, the team will be disqualified. In the distance it is forbidden to use a car or use a help in any other way, which may affect the result. During the distance planning, it is not allowed to leave the race center. Participants must take into account the rules of a fair play.

All 24h teams are provided with a GPS device for marking the distance. It is obligatory to use the device. GPS must be put on upper arm of one of team members. GPS devices will be handed out before entering the start zone.

Before entering the start zone:
24h and 6h teams are obliged to show the content of the bags and mandatory inventory, to activate SI AIR and to check it, to hand over the planning map;

Mandatory equipment

For 24h teams (every team member) it is compulsory to bring along:

  • SI card with non-removable wristband
  • race number, attached to a visible place
  • GPS device, given by the organisers
  • whistle

For 6h teams (every team member) it is compulsory to bring along:

  • SI card with non-removable wristband
  • race number, attached to a visible place

For T3 class there is no mandatory equipment.

MO, WO, XO   men, women and mixed teams – no age restriction
MV, WV, XV   men, women and mixed teams – all members must be atleast 40 or older
MSV, WSV, XSV   men, women and mixed teams – all members must be 55 or older
MUV, WUV, XUV   men, women and mixed teams – all members must be 65 or older
T3   class for everyone who wants to participate – without age or gender restrictions

Punching

All team members must make punches with SI cards. SI stations will operate in contactless mode too (0.3 m (30 cm), except situation, when the first participant is punching in. If the station is not working in SI AIR mode, participant must punch a control in contact mode. . SIAir+ is provided by the organizer (for 24h and 6h).

If the station marked in the map’s control point is not there or is not working, participants must chek in with a puncher on specially marked places on the map. When finishing, one must inform about this fact the referee at finish and show the last visited check point.

All team members must punch the control point with their SI card. The whole team must punch the control in time of 1 minute, otherwise the point will not be taken into account. SI card and the wristband will be removed by a referee. If one team member has a broken or damaged wristband, the whole team will be disqualified.

Map

The map will be specially prepared for this event using Forest service  data and other public cartographic information

Participant maps will be printed on Tyvek. Extra protection for humidity is not needed. Planning map will be printed on paper. One can’t use planning map in the distance.

Evaluation

Evaluation happens in accordance with the IRF and LOF rules of rogaining.

In evaluation the sum of the points of all collected control points is taken into account. In the case of identical sum, the highest place goes to the team which has finished the distance first. For every extra minute over the control time (less than 1 minute as well), 1 penalty point will be counted off of the collected point sum. For finishing 30 minutes over time the team will get 0 points.

Registration

Organisers have the right to stop the application for 24h distance at any time, if the GPS device cannot be provided for the team (limit – 150 devices).

If in the team there are members, younger than 14 years, it is obliged that there is a participant who is older than 18. There can be an exception, if it is previously arranged with the organizer – COK Silva (write to: sveikuli@sveikuli.lv)

Participants, younger than 18, who are willing to take part in the 24h distance, should hand in a written parent or guardian agreement at the time of registration.

Changes in the team member list without extra payment can be made till the June 15th 23:59 . If a previously arranged team wants to ad a member, the payment is according to the rules valid at the moment of members’ registration.

In the application (for 24 and 6h rogaining) there must be name of  the team, name and surname for each participant, date of birth, ODB number (if there is one), start group (how many hours), gender, country, menu choice (traditional, vegetarian or gluten-free), e-mail address (at least for one of team members).

In application form for T3 rogaining there must be name of the team, name and surname for each participant, date of birth, SI number, if he/she have, e-mail address (at least for one of team members).

Participation fee covers:

for 24h participants – SIAC rent, competition material (Map, number, etc.), service of results, catering (breakfast, Hash house and after finish (traditional, vegetarian and gluten-free cuisine)), prize fund, drinking and snack points, souvenir and other organizational expenses, first medical aid during the race, parking in competition center and tent sites (2 nights) and other costs;

for 6h participants – SIAC rent, competition material (Map, number, etc.), service of results, catering (breakfast, after finish), prize fund, drinking and snack points, souvenir and other organizational expenses, first medical aid during the race, short-term parking and other costs;

for T3 participants – competition material (Map, number, etc.), service of results (without publication of results), souvenir, breakfast and other organizational expenses, first medical aid, short-term parking and other costs;

For any changes with entries and SI card after July 15th – Eur 3,00 for every change.

Participants are responsible for returning SI Air unbroken to organizers. If the participant, by any reason, doesn’t return SI Air to the organizer (has lost it, etc.), participant must pay it’s value – 65,00 (sixty five) Eur, if the GPS is not returned – it’s value – 85,00 (eighty five) Eur.

Teams, which have applied till July 15 have to make the payment till July 16.

If the team by any reason doesn’t take part in the event, the participation fee won’t be repaid.

Prizes Top three teams in each time and class category will be awarded, depends on budget of rogaine. Winners of 24 h rogaine in every age and gender group will receive a Latvian champion medal.

Service

At the race centre there will be information centre avalaible for participants and supporters, as well as ambulance, electricity for phone chargers, showers, cafe – from evening of 20.07., sports goods trade  (Tavam sportam- http://tavamsportam.lv/), childrens playground, a place for tents, parking ( short term and long term). Arrival at the long time parking is possible till the end of registration, departure – after the race only or with an organiser’s permission. Arrival at short term parking is available from 21.07., 20:00, and in 22.07 for 2 Eur.

Supporters and other accompanying persons at the race centre, except pre-school children, after 21:00 at July 21, must pay 2 eur per person.

Breakfast at 21.07. for participants (3, 6h, 24h) is avaliable from 8:00 – 11:00.

Additional services for participants – drinking water, storage, storage for car keys – 24h. Storaga and storage for car keys is available with a race number.

Hash house is open from 21.07., 20:00 till 22.07., 9:00. Participants get Hash house services when showing their race number and SI AIR, attached to arm.

After the finish catering is avaliable for 6h distance at 21.07. from 17:30 – 19:30; for 24h distance at 22.07. from 11:00. Catering is avalilable with a coupon.

Drinking points At race territory there will be at least 7 drinking points, which are marked with a glass icon on a map.

Volunteers of COK Silva and other supporters.

Participants responsibility for their own health and for insurance against accidents and possible injuries borne by the participants (over 18 years) or their parents / guardians (for participants 18 years and younger). Teams will be registered as full team at the event center, will receive participant accessories, will sign by the personal signature responsibility for their own, theirs child or guardians – participants health status, responsibility for possible accidents and possible injuries during the race. It is possible to take routes on distance in order to keep away the health and life hazards. Application form will be published together with pre-start information.

Participant, agrees that during the competition, he or she can be photographed and the photos can be used for publicity of this or any other race, or active lifestyle itself in print, electronic environment and social networks.

Participant, with filling the application form and participating in the race, agrees that his or her personaldata (name, surname, age) will be published in electronical form (application and result reviews at LOF, COK Silva, rogaining and other web pages, as well as be given to LOF and IRF).
